Guildwars… Spartan Style

Today was a Yellow day. Today the Vloxxen Excavations experienced a butt kicking that could be compared to none other. This isn’t to say that other groups have done better or worse than this particular one, but this group can be compared to none. What’s Yellow have to do with things, you say? Simple. Yellow Skills. Every member of this party was required to use skills that were yellow. No blue skills, no red skills, not even periwinkle skills. And boy was it a bad day for red dots.

If ever there was a team that attempted to emulate the fighting style seen in 300, this was it. The assault on the Vloxxen Excavations was done with nothing more than Warrior, Paragon and Norn skills. Not a res sig was seen (it’s grey!). So what made this build so unique? It all boils down to the essence of paragon healing. The shouts and chants that a paragon offers to heal, heal for a small amount, but they heal the entire party. This means that there was no single strong heal, no specific member(s) in the party to protect. In order to keep the party alive, everyone had to pitch in. Everyone had to do their part to heal the team. If one member fell, the team was weakened, if two or three fell, the team experienced serious difficulty. But this coin has a flipside… While the entire team stood, it could reach to the heavens and back, and be no worse for the wear. Constant minor heals party wide, provided a massive amount of health gained in a short duration. Rarely did a team member drop below 75% health, and if they did, it was a non-issue. Not only did this provide a strong link between our mighty heros, but the lack of energy use meant there was no time between battles. In fact, the faster they went, the better off they were.

Continuous battles, fierce combat, team-based tactics, and strength in their fellow man made this team stand out from the rest… made this team epic. Songs of praise shall forever shower these mighty warriors.
